Exhibit opening & reception for an installation (May 17, 2024-July 30, 2024) by Aanti Sumaiyya and Judy Branfman of “Where Has All the (affordable) Housing Gone?”; with poets Naomi Nightingale & Ivan Salinas, land acknowledgement by Lydia Ponce, and conversation between John Raphling, senior researcher with Human Rights Watch, and Becky Dennison, Executive Director of Venice Community Housing, about Raphling’s report on the criminalization of unhoused people. This event made the link between the escalating loss of affordable housing, increasing numbers of evictions, and the growing reality of homelessness in Venice/Los Angeles.
